A Strange Reiki Healing

When I was living in Belgium, I was involved in a Reiki healing group for a couple of years. Every month a group of about fifteen people would come together and do Reiki on each other, usually on a one to one basis. We all had a first degree Reiki initiation, except for Gerda, the group leader who was third degree.

Reiki prescribes a set of instructions on how to place your hands on the patient and the sequence of positions of the hands. As I always follow my own intuition, I felt those instructions as too restrictive and mechanical, and I started to just follow my intuition. After all, I see Reiki as a hands-on-healing technique, that was widely practiced all over the planet. The treatments I did were always well received. One day, I felt I had to give Gerda herself a treatment. As I was following my intuition, I felt that I had to put my hands on the nape of her neck for some time. I later learned that this is a entrance point to the energy system of the body. After the treatment Gerda told me that she had a very unique experience. She went into total relaxation, and went out of her body. She flew to a place in France, and saw the name of a village. She saw herself standing on a hillside looking towards the village center. She had never had an experience like this before. She didn’t know what to think of it.

A couple of months later I saw her again, and she told me the following story. A friend had invited her for a trip to the south of France. They were traveling by car, mostly following the highways, with an occasional side trip. Somewhere half way the trip, she saw a road sign with the name of the village she had seen in during her Reiki healing. She had completely forgotten about it, and had thought it might have not even existed. But there it was. The decided to visit the village, and it was exactly like she had seen it. They walked around in the village and visited the local museum. In the museum were several paintings of the aristocratic people who had lived in the local castle. Gerda said that she had a very strong feeling of familiarity with these people, as if she had known them. The whole experience left a strong impression of her. She still didn’t quite know how to interpret it, although she entertained the possibility of a past life memory that had come up during the Reiki session.

Sometimes we don’t now right away why an experience happened. Then we just have to give it some time, and clarification might come at a later time.

About Cosmick Traveler

I am a life long spiritual seeker, exploring the mysteries of man, life, and the universe. I had many mystical experiences during my life. There is nothing spectacular about them. These experiences are often unexpected, and lie outside what we have been told is possible. They served to learn about the Greater Reality, that part of reality that is not talked about in school, government or corporation. Nevertheless it is very real, and a part of being human on this planet. I have studied many different doctrines and teachings, both esoteric and scientific. I have learned to see the common essence in all these disciplines, and the many connections between them. I have found that many people have spiritual, mystical or just unusual experiences they never talk about because of the many taboos this society has about certain subjects. However when they encounter someone they see they can trust they open up. It is time now for people to talk openly, and not to fear ridicule. I see it as my task to write about all these subjects and experiences that can enrich a person's life. Exchanging ideas, opinions, beliefs and experiences will bring us together and we will realize that we are not different from each other. It does not matter where you live on the earth, or what your cultural background is. If we pay attention to our humanness, then we can create a better world for all of us.
